Center for General Education
The Center for General Education at the NJTC is established in 2002. Its function is to coordinate and implement curriculum of general education and related administrative affairs. Currently, the Center has seven teaching teams which are responsible for these subjects, Chinese, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Social Science and Physical Education. General courses at the NJTC consist of six categories, they are Languages, Humanities and Arts, Social Science, Natural and Applied Science, Physical Education and Military Education.

Goals:
General education aims to foster healthy character. In addition to the single disciplinary knowledge, it offers students a group of extensive basic curricula to broaden student's knowledge. Through providing various ways and opportunities to investigate the human being, society and nature, its target is to make students have general capacity and disposition for humanities and a wide range of knowledge. Through making students have a basic understanding about the human race, society and nature, and familiarize a variety of issues, solutions and viewpoints concerned with interdisciplinary knowledge, its objective is to balance students' body, mind and spirit in a good condition. The ultimate purpose of education is to cultivate a whole person so as to help students understand and reflect upon the meaning of human dignity and value. General education is a kind of learning tip for the exploration and integration of interdisciplinary knowledge. It intends to help interdisciplinary knowledge develop in a balanced way so as to fulfill the idea of holistic education.

Equipments:
We have ten audio-visual classrooms, an aerobic dancing classroom, an art classroom, a physical laboratory and a chemical laboratory for students to take lessons. Besides, we provide a media production room for teachers to produce multi-media teaching materials. We also have portable audio-visual aids such as single-barreled projectors, laptop computers, teaching materials machines of giving a cue, and DVD players for teachers to borrow to use in class.

Future Prospects:
* Intensify teaching in various fields of studies.
* Promote various general education curricula to develop in a balanced way.
* Set up more multi-media classrooms.
* Add more audio-visual and multi-media equipments.
* Employ more full-time and part-time teachers.
* Combine with the idea of holistic education to scheme out general
education curricula with unique features. Hope to cultivate students' minds
with multi-vision and a wide range of moral and intellectual outlook to make
them have genuine care for the meaning of life, the era, and the
environment, and an elegant professional talent with extensive
knowledge and a correct, clear and logical world view.
